Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how TempShare ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our temporary file sharing service (the "Service"), including when you sign in with Google or otherwise connect a Google Account where that feature is enabled by the operator.

This page is intended to satisfy public disclosure requirements for the Service and for Google API / OAuth verification where applicable.

1. Who we are

TempShare is a web application that provides temporary file upload and short-lived download links. The Service is operated by the party that deploys and maintains this instance (the "operator").

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:

  • Files you upload — file content, file name, size, and MIME type.
  • Access metadata — access identifiers, expiration times, and access counts needed to serve and clean up temporary links.
  • Technical data — standard request logs (for example IP address, user agent, timestamps) generated by our hosting infrastructure for security and reliability.
  • Account / admin credentials — if you operate an administrator or user account, authentication material such as password hashes and session tokens as configured by the operator.
  • Google Account information (when Google Sign-In / OAuth is used) — limited profile identifiers needed to authenticate you, such as your Google account email address, name, and unique user ID (subject), and any other data you explicitly authorize via Google consent screens for the scopes we request.

3. Google user data

If this deployment uses Google OAuth or Google APIs, the following applies to Google user data obtained through Google’s authentication or API services:

  • Limited use. We use Google user data only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Service (for example, signing you in and associating your session with authorized administrator or account actions).
  • No advertising. We do not use Google user data for advertising, including personalized, retargeted, or interest-based ads.
  • No sale. We do not sell Google user data or personal information.
  • No unauthorized human access. We do not allow humans to read Google user data except: (a) with your affirmative consent for specific cases; (b) when necessary for security, abuse investigation, or legal compliance; or (c) when data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations where individual users cannot reasonably be identified.
  • Scope minimization. We request only the OAuth scopes required for the features we provide. We do not request access to Google user data that is not needed for the Service.
  • Google API Services User Data Policy. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide temporary file hosting and download links
  • Authenticate users and operators (including via Google Sign-In when enabled)
  • Enforce size limits, retention, rate limits, and cleanup policies
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues
  • Operate administrator and account features when enabled
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. Storage and retention

Uploaded files are intended to be temporary. Links and file records expire after a limited period (or when removed by cleanup). We do not design the Service as long-term archival storage.

Authentication tokens and Google-related identifiers are retained only as long as needed to maintain your session, account association, or security logs. Residual logs retained by hosting providers may follow their own retention schedules.

When Google user data is no longer required for the purposes above, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, subject to legitimate security, backup, or legal holds.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • As you choose — for example when you distribute a file access link.
  • Service providers / infrastructure — hosting, storage, and related providers that process data solely to run the Service under agreements with the operator.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the Service, or the public.

We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for independent use outside the purposes stated in this Policy, except as required by law or with your direction.

7. Cookies and local storage

The public upload experience may use local browser storage for basic functionality. Authenticated sessions may store an authentication token or related state in local storage or cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the public Service pages.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Service and the data we process, including access controls for operator tools and use of industry-standard transport security where available. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Avoid uploading highly sensitive data, and treat share links as secrets.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

If you signed in with Google, you may also revoke the Service’s access to your Google Account from your Google Account permissions page. After revocation, features that depend on Google authentication may stop working.

To exercise applicable rights regarding this deployment, contact the operator using the method in the Contact section below.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). Do not use the Service if you are below the applicable age.

11. International processing

Depending on the deployment region chosen by the operator, data may be processed in different countries. By using the Service, you understand that processing may occur outside your home country, subject to applicable law.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy where permitted by law. Material changes affecting Google user data use will be reflected on this page before taking effect for new processing.

13. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, Google user data practices, or wish to make a privacy request for this TempShare deployment, contact the operator of this Service through the contact method published on the TempShare Home page or the project hosting dashboard associated with this deployment.
